A New Approach in Daylighting Design for Buildings

Daylighting is a future building design trend, subjected to all the global energy efficiency standards, but its still largely depends on architect and it difficult for electrical engineers precisely quantify of solution. This study presents an innovative integration process simulation, rooted in parameters existing standards regulations, leveraging architectural simulation software tools. Within this novel integrated methodology, peripheral zones envelope central core areas structure are discretely conceptualized designed. Daylight intensity envelope’s calculated based average daylight factor building’s optimized window-to-wall ratio. In contrast, designed attract from open spaces roof, roof structure, reflective roofs, clerestories. A performance tool utilized validate these new techniques. fresh approach tested complex pilot-scale Nhon Trach, Dong Nai, Vietnam, evaluate method’s feasibility scientific soundness. The results corroborate accuracy proposed quantifying reducing lighting system consumption by 34%, equivalent annual CO2 saving over 4,000 tons. Through daylighting design, approximate 7% increase incurs total initial investment, promising substantial profitable returns.
